3 vanes vs. 4 vanes

i bought the tool and works great! i fletch all my own arrows now. if i mess up a vane which i do often, i just fix it myself no prob!

I'm ordering mine from knockpoint tues.  there closed till then.  Thanks man that's the only shop that sounds like they can get exactly what I want...  four vein helical on beman 340 ics hunter.  tuned to four blade 125 grn slick tricks.  I hope they stack like these feild points.

I should just buy it and make my own.  Then I can fix as needed.  Do you find the spine and line up a vane with it.  I'd need the shop to find my spine right?

Buy your own jig.  It's easy, I've never worried about finding the spine like I would building a fishing rod.  I just line up the first vane with the arrow label, then do the other two from there.

I still can't believe there are folks out there shooting straight fletching for broadheads.  To each their own I guess, but I would never use anything but helical on mine.

If you end up having them cut and fletch, you can at home, screw your broadheads into the loose inserts, then spot them with glue, shove them in and rotate to index with your fletch.  Before I glue inserts, I give a few twists with a .270 bore brush and clean with denatured alcohol on a Q-tip.

I also advocate getting your own jig, shaft saw, vise, press....everything you need to do your own work.  Dont forget an arrow spinner to cull out shafts that dont spin perfect with broadheads.......

Almost forgot.......3 3in Arizonas, 2 deg. offset  with broadheads.....NEVER a problem of any kind.......I dont worry about indexing them either........

I think the norm has been straight fletch for biscut users only.

I've read that offset works fine with wb.  Anyone shoot this setup? 
Want to get my own fletching tool but have to decide.   
I shoot 4 fletch blazers with a wb.

Broadhead tune, broadhead tune, broadhead tune. Lining your blades up with your fletching won't do anything. Its all in your bow. No need to shoot 4 fletch in my mind either. I shoot 3 fletch and can take a grizz trick, montec, and a stinger and they will all have the same poi as my field tips. Of course my bow is broadhead tuned to perfection.

I'm ordering 4 blade slick tricks w four vane helical 2" blazers.  I'll post the groupings at differnt yards we can compare our groups.

I line my BH's up with the fletching, just to ensure that every arrow leaves the bow in the same orientation and way. Not saying it makes them fly better by doing this, just saying that it probably doesnt hurt. Like the question of 3 fletch w/4 blade heads, can't line them up with the fletching, but you can line the blades up so they always leave the bow at 12-3-6-9, with the fletch always leaving with 1 vane at 12. Thus, the arrow leaves the bow the same everytime....

Does anyone know of a shop in wa that will find the spine and line a fletch up with it?   Nock point won't do.  I found the spine tester for 150 or so.  I am willing to pay shipping and wait.  So any good custom arrow shop referral would be sweet.

Yeah I think lol.  Is there a spline?  I'm lost now.  Does anyone find the spline and line it up w the fletch / broad head???

The spline or heavy/thick point along the arrow shaft can be found by plugging the ends of the shaft and floating it in a bath tub. The heavy side will move to the bottom as the arrow floats. The second method is to place the shaft on a arrow spine tester and place the weight on the shaft. Rotate the shaft and watch the deflection of the dial indicator. When it reaches it highest or stiffest point you have found the spline of the arrow shaft.
