Winchester 101 Pigeon Grade Trap O/U
« on: March 14, 2012, 07:28:51 PM »
I am very close to purchasing a Winchester 101 Pigeon Grade Trap O/U with 32" barrels.  I have it narrowed down to either the Winchester 101 or the Browning Citori Trap.  There is a substantial price difference. Supposedly the new 101's are Belgium made.  I do like the 101 a lot.

Who shoots a newer Winchester 101?  I dont care if it is a trap or field model I just want to hear some opinions.  I used the search engine but couldnt dig any info up on it.

Thanks for the input.

Years ago when I shot Registered Skeet, I had a 101 three barrel skeet set.  (20, 28, & 410 Ga.)  Great gun!  I think my set was made in Japan.  If the quality is still there, you can't go wrong.  Actually, whichever gun FITS you best is the better choice.  In shotgunning, fit is everything!
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I agree with the first reply; fit is everything.  I have a 101 topsingle trap and really like it.  I think the 101's point better than the Brownings.  Send me a PM with any other questions.

Im assuming the browning is made in Miroku, Japan have had a couple of double guns made out of that factory. Both were great. I have not handled any newer winchester over unders but I assume they are very similar in quality to the browning. I believe that Browning and winchester are one in the same now. I assume further that they are made in the same factory in belgium, as the higher grade brownings are made.
Like the others, I say whatever fits. There was a good artical in a recent shooting sportsmen (maybe last issue or the prevoius) that was on the 101 and it gave it a good review.
