Carp,

In your opinion, completely stock Rem 700 or Savage 110 in .308?  I have the savage and love it but, if a Rem 700 is that much better, I may switch.  I do have a Rifle Basix trigger group on the Savage though so, I'm in another $100 on top of the $400 I paid.

In all truth I can say remington 700. I have bought a few savages and they have never been good guns for me. A couple were o.k but I will not buy anymore savages.

I must have gotten a good one then.  I'm happy for the most part with it.  couple of things I don't care for but, in that price range, I didn't feel like I could be picky over the ticky tack stuff.

Damnit, now I'm gonna have to save a couple hundred dollars.  Probably only get $200-$250 for the savage.

I just could not dial in the savages to shoot better then 1.5 or so at 100 yards. I hate the triggers in them, maybe it's just me but they are one of the only brands I won't buy anyome. If you really want a killer keep the savage awhile and then get a tikka. They are tack drivers and the trigger and action and barrel are super!

The 770 is junk do not buy them. I can build a better gun with lego's :chuckle: the 700 is a lot more solid and a much better gun.

Bighammer,
Can we see some of your builds from the Rem700?  Also if you don't mind me asking, how much are you into a complete custom build?

Thanks
Will hunt for food.

so how hard is it to put a detachable box mag if you change the stock?  Think I'll go get one tomorrow.

Here you go, they also do the bottom metal for the 700 long action. You use the AICS mags and you don't get hosed for close to $400 bucks for the Badger Ordnance set up. PTG sure threw a wrench in the works for the guys who were charging way too much for bottom metal that take the AICS mags.

They will be back in stock soon, you can purchase them else where also.

So Big, that ADL action is a good one eh? Is it virtually the same as the BDL action? I never thought about the buying an ADL to strip for the action, for some reason, always thought it needed to be the BDL.... :dunno: Obviously it will work, sa I can tell you dont skimp on such things!

Here's another question... you get $300 into the action. For another 4 or 5 hun, you can get a custom action... is there not that much diff? Do you have to have this action blueprinted and milled to get it "ready for custom"??? Or is it ok out the box?

wyatts box magazine is about $279.00 . you have to be carfull if its a short action depending on the bullets your gonna shoot . I got a new 700 action and it was $400 . I figured that It would be a hasselle to get rid of the other stuff and didn't wanna waste them. $369.00 is a smoking deal . How much into a custum build ? with good optics you will easyilly be in it 5K

The ADL actions are the same as the BDL actions, so no worries there.

Here is a 300 yard group from a FACTORY Rem700 ADL in .270 Wincheter purchased from the local Bi-Mart. Nothing was done to this rifle other than sanding the pressure point out of the forearm in the stock.

Most often than not, very few rifles won't shoot. It's generally a matter of the component combo it is being fed or a driver/pilot issue.

Yes! I am a Redbull junkie and I accept that.

So Hammer, that Red Bull doesn't affect your groups at all?  I would think it might make a guy a little jittery....... :dunno:
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Nice I think Ive just had bad luck with them. I shot an older .243 700 and did about that with it, and a police model 308 put 3 in one hole too. But the dang sps's Ive shot where 1.5" or more :dunno:
