Turkeys Every Morning....
«
on:
March 21, 2012, 12:39:25 PM »
We have been enjoying watching these birds most mornings all winter. There is a group of eight jakes that sticks together, sometimes they are with hens, sometimes just the jakes. A tom came in and tried to mix with the hens, those 8 jakes all ganged up on him and ran him off my property, I am still laughing at that. He was over at the neighbors gobbling up a storm after the jakes came back.

But I did run up river and saw around 60 head of elk.... one spike in the herd... obviously no impact on that herd from tribal hunting

They really don't know how dangerous of turf they think they own....
Actually, I don't want to shoot any of the jakes if we can help it, I'd rather see them get full fans, but that tom could be in trouble.
Here's a couple from behind the house last year.

She doesn't live on the ranch anymore, Kelly farms and watches the place, I'm not sure how she's doing lately.

Plenty of snow up high, but the thaw is ahead of the last couple years.
