Replace wood with synthetic?
« on: March 16, 2012, 12:33:04 PM »
Hi All,

I’m considering buying a new rifle to replace my Win. model 70 (.308).  It’s a little heavy.  Then I thought about buying a synthetic stock to replace the wood stock – should be a lot cheaper than a new rifle and lighten the load.

Is this something normally done or would I be better off looking for a whole new rifle?  My budget for a rifle isn’t much, maybe < $600 (before scope).

What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

Thanks Woodchuck, I was reading that thread this morning.  It sounds good, but there isn’t a store anywhere near me (Bellevue, WA).

Wally World has a 700 black syn stock with scope for around $415.
