Try and keep your back to a lake- steep cliff or something else that forces the coyote to approach from another angle. The coyote I posted about in ND that was 7 feet from me most likely came from behind me. his only problem was that I set up on a hill that was maybe 30 feet tall but really steep all the way around. I was set up on a very small step about 20 feet up. I was high enough that I had an elevated view- but not so far up that I was skylined.
