Great thread, awesome pics!

How long can mules reasonably be in service?  :dunno:

Usually expected mules can work for thirty years. Donkeys can work for forty years.

Rode my dads old riding mule in rough country in Idaho last year, she's pushing 30 just like me and was out pacing my dads 9 year old mule he's riding these days.

Sorry to see anybody getting out of the long ear game. Mules make the best rides in the rough stuff.

Love your spotted mule! The oldest my sister has is 32 and taught all the kids to ride and my grandson. He got injured this weekend and may not recover.  He is the best mule. The spotted one is in his twenties and still goes well. They work a long time.
