Sherman Spring Bear Permit
« on: March 20, 2012, 10:23:31 AM »
Well, can't say that I am the lucky one. But I can say that the wife drew a spring bera permit for the Sherman. We havent spent alot of time up there but are excited to get up there and give it our best shot at a bear. Any tips or pointers that I should know about hunting bears up there would be kindly appreciated. We will keep everybody posted as to how the hunt turns out.

Look for the brightest green you can find at the beginning of the season.....and sometimes that will be higher up on an open face....bit green is the key.

Very little reason to come over here before May, I can't think of a single bear I have seen in this country in April. :twocents:

find the open hills during your hunt with the lush grass growing also bottoms where creeks and ponds with the lush veg popping up is another great spot

Anyone know how the snow pack is up there this year vs. the last few years?

Lower elevations should be more accessible than the last couple years. High elevations still have plenty of snow, but should melt off earlier.

Thanks, I have to put in my vacation time at work and just trying to get an idea.

The end part of the spring hunt is much better than the begining...a bears metabolism is effected by the light and and warmth in a day.. longer the days the more they are up and eating= more eating means more opprtunity to see bears
