Its getting to be that time of year for you to purchase your Dermestid beetles so you can establish a good colony to process this years trophy. No more boiling rotten meat off your skulls, digging out eyes or whizzling the brains out of your buck, No more worrying about the raccoons or neighbor dogs digging up your trophy in the back yard.

How long does it take 300 beetles to clean a deer skull?

It would take to long for 300 beetles to clean a skull before the grease would dry into the skull and cause you more work in the degreasing process.  This is why you should get them about 2 months early so they have time to multiply.  300 beetles will be 3000 beetles in about a month.  I recommend about 6000 beetles before you give them something as big as a skull.  If I were just going to do my own skulls maybe one or two a year I would macerate then in a five gallon bucket.  If you need help with either process shoot me a email.
