Otters # 11 & #12
« on: March 22, 2012, 06:28:25 PM »
Strange thing happened the other day. I caught something and had actually remembered to put my camera in my pocket. :dunno:

#11

Trap location. This is on the headwaters of the Copalis R. Kind of an edge set.

Trap reset

Trap reset

Location, A tributary of the Copalis R., channel under and old log bridge. This spot doesn't look like much but I've caught a ton of fur over the years. There is a big pond above the bridge. 5 checks has produced two beaver and two otter.

Actually both are pretty small. Both females, small and smaller.

Bruce, Looks like you have a conibear spring helping close the door. What size? 110 conibear? Assuming you have one on both ends. Thanks, bob

Bob,
It's a 220 spring. I straigtened the eyes out to lengthen it out. 10 x10 x 48 trap with  9 1/2 x 9 1/2 doors. I'm going to try and build some with coilsprings on the doors sometime. Conibear style trigger. It is very fast even underwater. Showed one off at the fur sale. Imagine I'll have to bring one to the Rendezvous.
