I actually do have some input on this one. Last year I had an archery tag but I was hunting with a buddy with a rifle tag so I decided to carry a 22 for grouse. It was about 2 in the afternoon and we were still hunting through some timber to get to a vantage point for our evening hunt. The year before we had a close call on a legal buck about 1000 yards from this spot. Walked right up on him feeding at about 40 yards just never got a shot by the time we figured out he was legal. Well this year we see a grouse so I shoot him with the 22. As we continue hunting we get back to that spot we saw the buck the year before. Low and behold there are 4 bucks staring holes through us and very alert. We are convinced that our 22 shot at a very minimum made those bucks alert to our presence. We never did get to count points on the bucks as they l blew out of there before we could even get our binoculars up. We sure won't be shooting 22s again during deer season.

is it illegal to get grouse with rocks?
Advisable or not adviseable if you shoot a 22 at a grouse while high buck hunting...will it push deer out of your area?
I see tons of bear but have never had the desire to shoot one. I am too focused on deer hunting to even think twice about it.
CB rounds no louder than a pellet gun

I am too focused on deer hunting to even think twice about it.Let me know where these pesky bears are and I will help get them outta your deer area. I think that deer will begin changing their patterns in august when they hear shots from bear hunters. I wouldnt encourage anyone to shoot bears where I plan on deer hunting. Some day (when im rich ) I will return to these places with horses and shoot one of each color... but until then I am not a bear hunter unless it is with a camera. They dont taste good enough for me to target them, plus it wouldnt even be a challenge. I think it depends on the area. Up high, I think animals are more aware of sounds like a .22 shot, etc, therefore I more than likely would pass on a grouse. I say this, as I have watched monster elk up by the nooksak not give a rats arse about target shooting just over the hill from them. Didnt flinch or care at all.However.....roasted grouse is mighty tasty.
