Reticle Illumination

I am looking at getting a hawk optics scope with a red and blue illuminating reticle. Are these legal in WA? Cant find anything about it.

I think it is OK.  From pg 70 of the regs, I don't think it applies to #12 because it projects onto the reticle not the animal.  But maybe a leo would have a different interpretation of #1.

Just take the battery out when you're hunting would be my advice...

Illuminated reticles are illegal for hunting certain game in washington. Coyote is the only one I know that is not illegal to hunt with an illuminated reticle.

I have never seen a law that prohibited illuminated reticles in rifle scopes.

For those who say it's illegal, please post the law, or the page in the regulation pamphlet where I can find it.

The way I understood was if it was naturally illuminated then ok but batteries were a no no

Can't use nightvision for deer or elk or anything that projects a beam to the animal (laser and flashlights).

I think people are getting confused and quoting archery regs, which say nothing battery powered.

Illuminated Reticle on Modren Rifle...legal.

Muzzleloaders and sights containing glass and electronic sights are illegal.

All located on page 74 and 75 of last years regs.

WAC 232-12-045 Agency filings affecting this section 
Hunting equipment restrictions.
  (1) It is unlawful to hunt deer or elk with the aid of infrared night vision equipment or with laser sights (not to include range finders) capable of projecting a beam onto the target, while in possession or control of a firearm, bow and arrow, or crossbow.

     (2) It is unlawful to use radio-telemetry equipment to locate and hunt wildlife with transmitters attached to them.

Legal on a rifle but not a muzzleloader. If it helps you shoot better, have to it.

I have Leupolds VX-R, 4-12x40 CDS.. Its legal. I have to offer that I REALLY like the on/off feature for the firedot reticle. A lot of people do not think about it, but on a dark hide, like a bear or a wallowing Elk or even a nice mule deer up in the shade.. seeing your cross hairs on the animal can be tough.. especially over distance. I have found its nice to have and works well.

For what its worth the 30mm tube on these scopes paired with the illuminated reticle with CDS dials is a pretty great bargain! As compared to a Swaro or Zeis with other Ballistic Compensating offerings with illumination.. its a good deal.
