Just went out to fire up the rig for work. Had to stop and listen for a bit. Gooble, gobble was the sound I was greeted to this morning. GOOD LUCK to all when the season fires up!

Well thats cool ... I am ready to get after it ...but I wake up to find snow on the ground up here in Skagit Co...and the gas prices at $ 4.15 ....it will be a spendy turkey season this year ....

I've never killed a Turkey but I'm seriously thinking this might not be the best year to do it with gas prices.

Since you can never get missed opportunties back and I can't take any money with me when I pass on, I plan on going with two good friends and making some more one-of-a-kind memories.  It's money well spent in my book, and it may just keep me semi-sane for another year.

yeah I usually burn around $ 500 for a weeks hunt ... mostly all in gas ....if you want plenty of birds to hunt you need to find them ...if I do not know where there are at least 10 different gobblers roosted I am very unhappy...i have roosted up to 20+ gobblers in 1 evening...its all what a guy wants to put into it.......

We'll be hunting a new piece of ground this year (permisssion on a 2100 acre private ranch that is fairly flat) that I was told by the owners son holds a lot of birds.   

We'll be getting there approx 1 pm the day before, spread out to scout, and will put birds to roost that evening.       
So hopefully we will be flocked deep opening morning. 

We plan on spending 7 1-/2 days hunting if needed.   I figure even if we use $500 on diesel and RV park fees, split 3 ways is $167 each or about $22 day (since we have to eat at home, there really is no added cost on the road).  Small price to pay anyway you look at it  ...

Have about 30 Tom's in the front yard every morning and more that show up in the afternoon.  Just waiting for opening day !

Haven't turkey hunted since I got married. The misses says its to much time away from the family, cost to much and is to far to drive. Glad my deer hunting area is only 45 miles away.

Should be a good season in the NE with a couple of back to back mild winters.  Will make one trip over and maybe more!  I thought I heard a Merriam's gobble last night and it was just the washing machine revving up for spin cycle!

Yup hopefully the turkeys will be right where they always are, 100 yds from the cabin front door. I'll know in a few weeks
