Small Game License purchased after Big Game License

I seem to recall in previous years that if a small game license was purchased after a big game license was already purchased, the price was the same as purchasing the small game and big game licenses at the same time.

I purchased a 2012 big game license earlier this year.  I purchased a small game license today and was charged the full price ($38.00), versus the price of $21.50 which is "small game with big game".

Does this sound correct?

Ridiculously its right. I noticed this last year when I bought my small game license last year in October, lame sauce I say

I'll have to look back to make sure, but I remember paying the lower price when I added my small game last year.

Yes, I was told they changed this last year.  Purchased big game last year.  Then later in the season, I went to get small game and was told that they had just changed the rules on pricing.  I said "I purchased my tags before the change"  they tried to contact FG to get me the discount price, but couldn't get a hold of anyone.  Tired of this *censored*, not hunting this year.   

The change was made mid season last year when they uped the prices of tags that is why some of you might not have noticed.  If you bought your big game before the change, your small game added later should have been the lower price.  Not anymore though, not sure why.

Res. hunting lic. 29.50 (no small games b.s.)
Deer tag 24.50
Elk tag 42.50
total 96.50

We, on the other hand
Deer+elk+ small games (if discounted) 104.50 or with out discount--- total 121.00
Or if you purchase each license seperatly 42.90 (deer) 48.50 (elk) 38.50 (small games) --- total 129.90

Yep, they did change this last year. That's why I never purchased my small game license in 2011. I intended to purchase it at a later time, but then I found out it was going to cost the full $38. So for that reason I was not able to go goose hunting with my neighbor the couple of times that he asked me to go.

This year I just bought everything at once. Except for fishing. And shellfish. I'll have to do without those this year so I can keep the cost down somewhat.

If I added it up correctly, to get the same licenses and tags in WA it would cost you $243.15 (not counting $82.50 for Western WA Phesant permit , which would bring it up to $325.65) including your Discovery extortion fee.

That's double from Oregon for the same tags! But, in all fairness you have to apply for all mule deer rifle hunts, and the first rifle seAason for Rocky Mountian elk, plus the application fee,m which is $8 per species.

I just bought the equivalent of the Sports Pac (sans the saltwater license) and it was 188 buck total.  The saltwater fishing option should only add about 25 bucks to that, so I think your math might be a little off.

I think the thought process with the constant rise in prices to legally participate in the outdoor activities is going to have a negative effect. One, we the responsible hunter/fisher that are on a tight budget have to rethink were our money goes which in effect means less tag/license/report cards purchased. This could equal less money that the State agencies receive.  Second, those that have no respect for the law or our natural resources will create an epidemic in poaching because of the increased prices.

Well last year WDFW had the most revenue on record in terms of licensing.....

Well last year was the most profitable for WDFW in terms of licensing.....

I think this year will be even more so due to the price of the quality applications being double what it was last year. Not many people are going to skip applying for the quality hunts after already getting started in the game.

I did not realize that WDFW had an increase in revenue. I just keep hearing a deep projected deficit within State agencies. With the increased revenue do you think we will see more of an effort in enforcement? I don't recall hearing anything about increasing the number of wardens in the field. More income should equate to more jobs I would think. Guess I am being naive on the subject.
