I'd guess that any increase in revenue from license sales would just help to make up for a loss of money coming out of the general fund.

 :yeah:

While the funds in the Wildlife Fund are increasing due to license sales, the amount of funding from the General Fund is decreasing. So there is actually not an increase in funding for WDFW, they are still operating at a lot less then they were just 5 years ago.....

On a personal note, last year at this time I bought a Big/Small Game license with deer tag.  This year I just bought the Small Game license.  If I decide to deer hunt this year, I'll buy a Big Game w/Deer Tag later, but my deer hunting buddy was such a PITA last year, i hope I don't have to....  >:(

Raising license fees is not the answer, either.

Perhaps I'm not in the majority, but I can't justify paying the additional monies for all the applications. Sure, I don't have to apply for them, but why should I get priced out of my own state? $13+ for a quality application? In this state? What a joke. Sure, it'll probably lower the number of applicants and my opp goes up, but I don't believe in it.

With licensing fees going up yearly, there will be fewer hunters and fishermen, so the state is shooting themselves in the foot. With gas prices going through the roof, I seriously considering not buying anything this year. How many other folks are thinking the same thing?
I not saying this out of anger, I'm saying this because my family is having to do with less income due to the wonderful recovery, and higher food and fuel prices. Besides I will need to be home so I can vote for more Democrats on election day.  :bash:
The worst day hunting is better than any day at work!

No, but a whole weekend of constant whining about his health problems pi$$ed me off.  Plus his insistence that he had to stop and get something to eat in the morning to raise his "blood sugar" made us miss the best hour of hunting of the day.  And he takes pain meds at night and washes them down with booze, then complains in the morning that he can't take a dump.

You looking for a deer hunting partner?  I'll give him to you!

I'd think it was funny too, only it happened to me!  The sad thing is, it's for his benefit--I don't really care for venison.  :'(

Yeah, I know.  Sounds nuts for a hunter to say that.  I've eaten Elk, Antelope, Rabbit, Squirrel (the big greys, not the Ground Squirrels) and liked them all.  I guess some poorly cooked venison just turned me off....  :sry:

Honestly, I cannot tell the difference between deer and elk meat, and I've eaten a lot of both.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I can tell the difference between between deer and elk - I've got some Napoleon Dynamite skills.  :chuckle:  There is a major difference in feed which contributes. But they're equally tasty, as long as they're prepared correctly (don't burn the sh*t out of them).

The only time I know what I'm eating is if I read the "deer" or "elk" written on the package before it's cooked. A lot of times I get home from work and my wife has dinner ready, and I always have to ask, is this deer or elk? Half the time she doesn't even know, because she doesn't even look to see what's written on the package.

But, I very well could be the only person on this earth who can't tell the difference between deer and elk.   :dunno:
