2012 trapping license
« on: March 25, 2012, 08:00:38 PM »
Our local Wal-mart superstore sporting goods counter seems to know nothing about trapping licenses, has anybody got the new license yet and what did you have to do or where did you have to go??

It was not an option for online purchase a month ago when I bought my big game combo.

I'll see if I can get a response from licensing and see what they have to say.

Heard back from Licensing today. I'll paste what they sent me  so you can see the whole thing.
It's a pretty good primer on what to tell the clerk if they can't figure things out.

Hi Bruce;

I checked the system for trapper license issues and everything is functioning correctly.

Trapper licenses can be purchased online and at dealers, assuming the customer has their trapper education number in their profile.

The products show up online and at dealers under a tab named: OTHER [possibly the dealer did not know this and was looking in the wrong section of the catalog]

If a new trapper goes to a dealer (and for some reason the trapper education number has not been entered into the customer’s account) the dealer has a special phone number to call which gives the dealer immediate assistance for the customer & license sale (see below)

I’ve let the dealer support supervisor know that a training message needs to go out for dealers regarding the trapper licenses. Being as it is a new license year, this will be a perfect time for a refresher.

Dealer Support Number:

(360) 902-2434

Or Dial Toll Free

(866) 334 9453, select dealer support on the menu tree.

Feel free to call me if you have additional questions.

It's been many years since I bought a trapper license but thinking of doing it again. If I use my last trapper license number does that work? I have never taken trapper education but still have a copy of a past trapper license.
THANKS

Please pardon my ignorance.  But why and how would you by a trapping license in a state that has outlawed trapping.  Just my stupid mind working

I think you are definetly going to have problems. You should be able to get a license but it might take a few phone calls by the clerk.
All I can say is give it a try but don't be in a hurry because it may take a while.

How much is a WA trapping license any more?
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.
