Thinking about it more, if you guys want to start applying out of state and not use a service, call the various game departments and find out their deadlines. You can call them and and they will help you apply. You can find out the best units or the easiest to apply for or whatever VIA THE INTERNET.  To  tell you the truth, there's not many secrets anymore.

I have done several guided hunts and I have done countless hours of research, Cabela's tags are way over priced.  You are better off using a booking agent or going direct to an outfitters website.
