I just purchased a couple for the boat and the blind bag.  Anyone ever use it/have experience with it?

it will patch up labs and springers if they are not cut to bad.  my dogs catch barb wire or something every year i always have it in my pack.  it seems to help them heal faster. just wish it would remove porcupine quills!

Thanks for the info on the gel.  I just ordered some.  As with most who bird hunt regularly, at some point in the season one of my labs gets cut on something.  This will definitely help address that issue in the field.

I was just talking to the vet about EMT gel this morning, its good stuff and belongs in every dog owners kit .
try to make sure the wound is as clean as possible before applying, the gel gets hard and kind of creates a scab, if not clean it can fester. its amazing how much quicker small wounds will heal with EMT gel.

I wouldn't use it on anything serious unless that was all I had, but for scrapes, small cuts, and raw spots it works like a champ.
hell I have even used it on myself. :yike:

I think every first aid-kit should have some EMT Gel in it. It's good for man or beast. Used it myself a few times also. Seems to really speed the healing process.

I keep that leg wrap people use on horses and some gauze with me too it comes in handy.  Definetly clean the wounds the best you can before putting the gel on.  I put the wrap on so it keeps dirt out.  it sticks to itself but not to the dog.  It is super light also.

I use it also but don't keep it in your bag in the winter or you'll never get it out of the tube. Best bet if you plan on taking it out in the field is to keep it in you pants pocket so it will be warm.

I agree. Been there. We had to use it a few times last year. I keep it in a small ziplock bag with some alcohol or iodine wipes. Clean would/scrape/etc as much as possible and then use the EMT. Works like a charm. Works good on a raw nose too.

I think the stuff is great. I use it on my dog and it works well. I carry the spray instead of the gel but I am sure they work in the same way. It is particularly helpful after a day of hunting for Chukars. Definitely a must for a K-9 first aid kit.
