I just picked up a set of Knives of Alaska - Bear Combo on craigslist for a killer deal... All I have to say is QUALITY made in the USA.... after handling these knives i just found my brand. I need to get to a shop to get them sharpened since they are D2 steel. If anyone is on the fence about buying them.. dont wait... just do it and you wont regret it... If I had to get them at their full price I still would after seeing the quality and Id pay extra just to keep the jobs in the USA.

I have a really neat set of Alaska knives that I use all the time, but I do wish they had gerber blades. Gerber holds an edge better than Alaska knives.

I am extremely picky and sentimental about my knives.  It is tough for a knife to make it into my pack.  I have one knife that all it has ever done is worked on Deer/Elk, it will never ever cut a rope or open a bag of hotdogs.  I was given the Elk Hunter and the Muskrat last year, I was really impressed.  Immediately I put the Elk Hunter in my pack and it will stay there.  It held an edge very well and is a very tough no-nonsense knife, great balance with lots of control which I like most.  I really like to get "on top" of my blade when I am working and the Elk Hunter allows you to get your hand on top of the blade for precision work.   It also comes with a "real" leather sheath that is tough and dourable.  I hate now days that good knives are sold with cheap sheaths.  It's kind of like buying a $700 stainless rifle and putting a cheap blued scope on it.   

The Muskrat, i haven't used yet for the intended purpose but it is intriguing to say the least.  Very sharp on both sides with its rounded blade it is very nimble with its slim grip.  I think that it would be a great boot knife or even a good fish knife.  It also came with a high quality sheath.

The person who bought them for me was told (supposedly by an Alaskan bear guide) to sharpen them with a large Popsicle stick with sandpaper glued on to the stick, sort of like a ladies nail file I suppose?         

Very good knives that are made for work.

I have the Alpha Wolf and love it.  Great knife and very easy to use and work with.

I am still waiting for my alpha wolf to show up.  I wanted the s30v and is on back order until the first week in April.

i guess at 200 bucks you would have to over analyze them..... so far the only complaint is that im having a hard time sharpening them.... but maybe thats just me...d-2 steel is apparently very hard to sharpen because its super hard and durable. i got a quote to resharpen them by a local redmond shop for 2.50 an inch.. so im gonna take them in on monday after my coyote hunt.

The Alpha Wolf is only $65 in D2 or $85 in S30V.

I've had 2, currently using the elk hunter. Absolutely love it. And I like the orange grip, no problems finding it if I set it down.

The edge takes a little bit of work, kind of like some buck knives I've had, but once you get it, it stays very sharp.

Sharp enough that my sheath took damage. Sliced open the bottom of it. I don't like leather sheaths anyhow. They look good as decoration, but I've had poor luck otherwise.

I have the skinning knife and the filet knife set. All were great gifts given to me from my wife and my sister.
I love them and couldn't be happier (and I am not nice to knives either)

I have the fillet knife. Does an ok job. Blade is a little stiff but still a good quality blade.
