Big Game Pamphlet Cover Photo Contest

Looks like some of last month's pictures would be perfect for this.

WDFW WILDLIFE PROGRAM
Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife
600 Capitol Way North, Olympia, WA 98501-1091
wildthing@dfw.wa.gov

Attention Hunters!

Would you like to see a picture of your child on the cover of this year's Big Game Hunting Pamphlet? The department wants to feature a young hunter with a harvested big game animal for the 2012 Hunting Pamphlet. If you have such a photo, please submit by Friday, April 6, 2012.

Photos may be submitted online at: http://wdfw.wa.gov/sharephotos/

On April 14, 2012, the Fish and Wildlife Commission is scheduled to adopt the 2012-2014 hunting seasons and regulations. The 2012 Big Game Hunting Seasons and Regulations pamphlet will be posted online soon after that and in the stores as early as ten days after the rules are adopted.

Guidelines for Hunting Pamphlet Photo Contest

Guidelines: For a picture to be eligible for the pamphlet, the image must be a picture of a young hunter ((youth)) (under age 18 at time of picture) wearing appropriate blaze orange and following all hunter safety practices; and with a harvested big game (deer, elk or bear). The image should be tastefully composed, high resolution, print-quality; at a minimum of 300 dots per inch (dpi). TIFF files are preferable, but high-resolution JPEG files are acceptable. To be considered for the 2012 pamphlet, pictures need to be submitted by April 6, 2012.

Kinda sucks that the youth in the picture has to have orange on. We follow all the rules when hunting including wearing the right amount of hunters orange, but when it comes to taking pictures with our trophies, the orange comes off. I have a great picture of my younger brother with his awesome 2011 black tail but he doesnt have his orange on at the time. :bash:

I understand your point. I also understand why they're doing that. You might write to them and inquire.

Looks that way. They're going for the hunting safety angle. They may not have thought it all the way through - unusual for the WDFW.  :chuckle: :bash:
