It means he is going to appy for several different elk permits that he considers to be good.

Well I got that part.  I guess, I was wondering what new season/permits he was considering now that he has the MS permit.  Has he been accumulating the points as a west side guy and will now apply for east side permits with no penalty?  I am just curious.

He can apply for an east side rifle or archery bull tag probably rifle and if he's not drawn he can hunt any general hunt he wants.

What I mean by being excited about drawing the elk ms tag is that I live on the west side and now can apply for one of the better east side tags and not worry about not drawing and missing an elk season.
