Just Shot one. Putting bacon in the freezer.
« on: March 31, 2012, 03:47:16 PM »
Got in the stand at 2200 and it was all quiet until about 2240 when i heard a snap way back in the woods that perked me up. I scanned my shooting lanes after a few minutes with the scope and nothing. scanned again 20 seconds later and she just appeared out of nowhere. Sneaky sumgun. She dug into a stump and gave me a rare minute while i set up and watched her from 70 yards away in the scope. She was no monster and she appeared to be alone so I popped her behind the shoulder slightly quartering toward me taking the back of the lungs and exiting at the diaphram.  She ran about 15 yards into the trees before falling over.

I called up some new hunters and sat back and taught them how to gut her up then had them help me drag her out to hang.

It sounds like it's time to get a new gun.

WTF?? Where's the Blaser?
:fire.:

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

Still here in germany.

No lights on the shooting lanes and no spotlights. Technically illegal here. Just gotta use good glass..... so no leupolds lol.

I wish I could have used the blaser but I just need to get another mount so I can do a little bit more scope swapping. The schmidty i have on the blaser now is plenty clear enough to see in the darkness but the crosshairs are very thin so they get lost on on the dark animal.  Since the blaser mounts are return to zero i'll have the daytime/drivehunt scope (schmidy) then I can swap to the night scope(meopta) when i look for pigs at night.
