Steak kabobs, I even hike them in 10 miles for overnight trips.  Screw those powdered meals.

What is your favorite backpacking food for the trail and camp?

Options for the pack;
Bagel w ham/creeme cheese
PB&J with some raisins tossed in
Granola bars
Snickers or similar
Apples
Gorp
Dry soup mix if in cold weather, break out the esbit stove

Meal Options for a lightweight backcountry camp
Dehydrated mini cheese tortellinis
Instamac...various flavours
chicken rice-a-roni, just add grouse...
Oatmeal

In the old days when we could hike, my wife would pack up carrots wrapped in wet paper sacks and some sorta crackers. It was very tasty.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

In the old days when we could hike, my wife would pack up carrots wrapped in wet paper sacks and some sorta crackers. It was very tasty.

bet those carrots would taste better if they were wrapped in ham.  :twocents:  paper bags leave a bad after taste

bacon, potatoes, fry in bacon grease, sausage links, ham, peppers and onions all fried together, sack it up in differant ziplocks, warm it up on the fire with some ketchup, dont plan on huntn after words though, its straight to bed after word
