what are the bucks doing !
« on: April 05, 2012, 09:11:23 AM »
went scouting alil outside of Pullman (east side) for mule deer and could only find does. we saw prolly 40-50 does.i have never scouted/hunted for mule deer so i don't have the slightest idea of what to expect. are the bucks in bachelor groups already ? or are they still singled out and hiding ? also is seeing 40-50 deer in a morning good ? when do they start getting into groups ? when do they start hanging around does ? any information would be very much appreciated  :)

Probably saw bucks and didn't know it;  they just shed and are barely starting to regrow.  In fact, I saw a buck here in town that still had his horns yesterday.
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

You could have seen bucks, as they don't have antlers right now.  Also, depending on where you were, seeing that many deer is not unusual.  Biggers bucks are unlikely to be with the herds of does at this point.  Does and small bucks will be in groups all year.
