Paracord Shoelaces

Just curious if anyone else uses 550 paracord for their shoe/boot laces?  I think I got mine from 5.11 tactical with the little tapered ends making it easier to get through eyelets than merely cutting raw paracord. I'll never go back to regular laces, these things will never break

On our first high hunt years ago my buddy used some to fix his boot and you are right it will never break!

When I was in the Army, we often replaced the laces in our boots with 550 cord. That stuff is great. Its like the Duct tape of cord, the WD-40 of of shoe laces.

Many a wrist band has been made out of 550 cord to use in a time of need.

Paracord works great as long as you double knot them. The cord can slip a little (some brands worse than others). I've made a couple pair of laces- I used heat shrink tubes from the electrical section at the hardware store for the ends- works good.

How about the pull cord for chainsaws? got some from my bro. He gets it on a spool since he works for a logging outfit. can't wear that stuff out.

Used it in a pinch when a lace broke in the backcountry.  I burnt the end and duct taped it and it worked just fine.

i always carry 50 ft of 550 in my pack for whatever.

i always have cord in my pack...my Meindl boot laces look very similar to cord

I used to pull the new leather laces out of my White's and replace with them para cord right out the box.  I'd pull all the strength fibers out of the para cord first and burn the ends.  Never had a para lace wear out.  You just had to tie double knots.
