Don't know which is worse...loosing a "honey hole" to logging or having it discovered. A few years back I just happened to stumble on an abandoned section of FS road that lead to a small section that looked like it might hold some blacktails. Got a nice one that first day and saw a monster buck on the way out. Went back the next year to scout and discovered that the place was a literal "deer factory". My new "Honey hole".
Well, I noticed every year I went back there was more signs that other people had discovered this place. Long story short, last year I drove to my favorite place to park to access this hole and it was a parking lot. Probably more hunters than deer. My "honey hole" had been discovered.   :bash: :bash: :bash:

Well Rasbo there is hope.

There were places that I hunted when I was young.  Some were honey holes for sure. Well over time they got so brushy and thick that they became un-huntable unless something just walked out right in front of you. Now many years later the trees have come back and look great for hunting. My honey holes have come back and I am not seeing evidence of other people in there. You give me heck about being older than you (not by much) but there are benefits! :chuckle: You now only have to wait for about 30+ years and your honey holes will be back like they were!

Sounds like I  have to get some safety glasses for you now when you are in the woods. :chuckle: Remember that GPS thingy works both ways ;)

Yea I know what you mean. The catfish firewood area used to be one of mine and a spot overlooking the river was a favorite for hunting and shrooms, both gone now. I fixed my sons old mountain bike so I am going to try to find some more.

Sorry to hear that Rasbo, it always stings when areas you have really scoped out are farmed or changed. Good luck this spring, hope you find another area full of honey trees...I did'nt draw a spring bear tag... :'(

Sucks Rasbo. They are all around my honey hole....not sure if it going to really distrupt the bears there or not...will find out in about 2-3 weeks I guess, when we start seeing more of them. I swung by today, no bear sign anywhere on the several miles  I hiked.

I hear ya thought, they cleared brush another place I like to hunt about 2 or 3 years back....thankfully, blackberries have a mind of there own...should be better this summer. I keep seeing the hills getting logged around in spots and I am thinking, "ok...that should be good in a few years, oh, theres a spot.."

In fact, I just stumbled on a spot I found in 09 that I forgot about till today....it was too fresh back then, but this summer I think it should be a great spot to call!

The animals that used that spot will still be in the surrounding areas. Find the next closest good habitat.
Then don't tell anyone about it.  ;)

Well thats one thing the tree farm is noted for is repeated logging but they thats why its a tree farm. Soon the fishing will go to pot in the lakes up there too as the WDFW will not be stocking all those many ponds.

the problem with losing this area is it will put the bears on another piece of property, not open to spring bear...But I know many other places in there.thatas what is nice about that much property
