Elk call.  Water is important but most elk don't live far from it.  Pretty easy to find clean water in their woods (knock on wood).  I haven't gotten beaver feaver yet and hope to never experience it.  Can the season start already?

-Elk call?  (This would be the most important thing for me, a call is invaluable during all elk seasons.)
-Lightweight sleeping pad?  (I never used one till a few years ago, don't have to have it.)
-Water filter/purifier?  (I have never carried one, I just get spring water where it comes out of the ground.)
-GPS?  (I have never carried one till last year, don't need it)
-Binos?  (I always have binoculars with me, but would forego them for the elk call since I pretty much know where my elk are gonna be anyway.)

Water purifier. I have two small kids at home that depend on me. I can not afford to be sick and miss a lot of work when I use most of my paid time off during hunting season! I would go nuts without my Binos, but I would make due!

Water filter. I bow hunt and it is usually warm in sept and I find I just hunt better drinking  water thru out the day. I'm old and the Blues get steeper every year. Just taking the time to filter water  gives me a chance to rest and maybe have a bite to eat. Time to think also.

I would have to have my binos...

Elk call- don't need it if they are talking and you are in the right area

water purifier- I could drink from a spring

Gps- Most likely I'd be hunting the same elk area I've always hunted and know it like the back of my hand

Sleeping pad- I could lay in some pine needles if I had too

Water purifier. I hate what those nasty unseen critters do to me.
