Free subscription to Extreme Elk Magazine
«
on:
April 09, 2012, 11:26:57 AM »
Last week's giveaway was so much fun, we've decided to give away another free subscription...
Simply reply to the following question, and we'll randomly select a winner on Wednesday afternoon. As a reminder, anyone who subscribes by Friday will still receive Issue #2 as their first issue (plus get a free DVD and be automatically entered to win the free elk hunt, bow, or backpack)!
QUESTION: If you were on a backcountry bivy hunt for elk and could only bring ONE of the following items with you, which ONE would it be?
-Elk call?
-Lightweight sleeping pad?
-Water filter/purifier?
-GPS?
-Binos?
Thanks,
Corey Jacobsen

Water filter/purifier. Can survive a lot longer and staying hydrated with clean water is a lot more important than the rest.

This is a tough choice. I could make do without all but the water filter. I guess you could boil all your water but that would be a hastle and takes a lot of time/fuel.

Elk call for sure.....
The sooner I locate and kill / harvest my elk, I could head for home. Boiled water for a day or running water out of a stream is good enough for me.

I'm bringing my water purifier. I can live without the other things. Although I will probably be lost and won't sleep worth a darn.

Sleeping pad because if I don't get a good nights sleep I am toast. I can boil my water to purify it.

All would be nice and would come with me, but I'll bite since it's a contest. Elk call, no, I can use my voice in a pinch...Sleeping pad, no, can use extra set of clothes in a pinch....Bino's would be bummed if I didnt have, no, I have a spotting scope...GPS is nice also, but no, hunted for years without one. Water filter it is, much easier and more needed... just my $.02

Sleeping pad need a good nights rest, boiling water or Iodine tablets is always an option for purification, Elk bugle on their own, GPS would be nice but pre season scouting should give you a good lay of the land and Bino's would be nice too save some leg work but not a necessity.

Elk call! Never have used a purifier/filter so it's not critical to me. Call em in kill it head home then drink all the water I need.
