Binoculars.  I hunt high enough that I don't need to treat water.  I can sleep without a pad if I'm tired enough.  Never owned a GPS - use paper maps instead.  Have never used an elk call successfully, so that's off the table.  But I am constantly looking through the binos.

water filter/purifier, gives you more time to be hunting and you can get by without the others.

As has been said, water purifier.
All other items are "luxuries", lack of hydration can end your hunt.

Need the fine quality H 2 O! All others are important but not as much as water.

elk call-if you can't locate them in early archery, you can't hunt them.
I don't use binos very much.  I can cut bows too sleep on and usually do, if you haven't tried it, do it under your pad.  GPS is nice, but not necessary.  It helps you plan and save time, but high up in the back country with a map you can't get lost.  I have had a change of heart about water with my new hunting partner.  I have always been a water nazi.  Filtered everything.  He eduacated me on the matter.  We mostly drink out of seeps on the side of the mountain high up.  With a few criteria satisfied, the water is always safe.  Saves time.

-Lightweight sleeping pad - no, can sleep on rough ground, sorta
-Water filter/purifier -  yes, know to a couple people who have been stuck in the high country needing help to get out thanks to beaver feaver.
-GPS - no, a good map and a couple compasses, a main with a backup

Does a bugle tube count as the elk call if you don't take a reed?  I can mouth bugle in a pinch and get an answer.

Congrats to the winner !!!
I just have to say, those that think a call is most important must really have a tough time hunting, especially with all the complaining I hear about season, and how "the Elk just are not talking, etc...  :dunno:
what about late season ? might as well stay home.  :tung:

Light weight sleeping pad. I can't perform well without a decent night's sleep.

Got to be binos for sure. They're like a second skin on me and I use them all the time. Other stuff I could live without; sleeping pad would be fir boughs, water would be everywhere on the westside, GPS is in my head, and compass is there also although I can get turned around in the city in a heartbeat!

Elk call will give you a second chance if you may miss,
the others are good but not necessary
plenty ways to get good water
Gps no you best know what your getting into without it, plus its been done with out as well
Binos would be nice but you could use you scope for short periods
