Shed hunters or wolves?
« on: April 10, 2012, 03:15:04 PM »
Shed hunters are blamed for chasing elk from winter feeding area near Ellensburg:

Letter to the editor blames wolves:

http://www.dailyrecordnews.com/opinion/letter-state-using-shed-hunters-being-used-as-scapegoats/article_786c6f94-8351-11e1-840b-0019bb2963f4.html

Anyone have first hand knowledge of wolves in Joe Watt/Taneum Area?

Don't they have that area pretty well monitored with game cameras? Seems like they should be able to verify for themselves whether it was a person or critter.  :dunno:
I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.

You would think they would Hirshey at least around the feedin station in the area they want them to winter undisturbed.  Theyre gonna have to find something to blame the wolf kills on.  So they don't look so ignorant.

Even if they have pics of wolves there, do you think the wdfw would actually admit it?

That's why I'm skeptical of it being shed hunters.. Because they wouldn't have a problem confirming a trespasser.

Give me a break, the Elk didn't blow out of the feed and go clear down to the Heart K for the day because of antler hunters. The Elk are use to the people sneaking around in  the Watt feed lot, they have been doing this for years, why do you think no one finds many antlers in there on May 1st.

I know Sam Kayser personally and if he says there were wolf tracks in the area, you can BANK on it.

The editorial wasn't bad until the author mentioned that the WDFW was introducing wolves...

I got an email this morning with pictures. More wolf tracks were found in the Joe Watt /Taneum area. Anyone that does not believe it was wolves that spooked the elk is not being realistic. It is nice to know that we have a wolf lover as a manager for the LT Murray. :bash:

share the pictures with the manager- maybe he doesn't know about them.  Just because he has problems with illegal shed hunters doesn't make him a "wolf lover"...

He is a she and her name is Shana. If you open up the first attachment in this post  where she is blaming shed hunters you will see the picture of her beautiful wolves she has on her office wall. You can meet her and see it in person if you come to Eburg. She knows about the wolves that came through the lot and still blames it on shed hunters spooking the Elk. I'm sure antler hunters do spook Elk but they don't run them miles from the lot.
