A great trade into another recurve!
« on: April 09, 2012, 01:47:17 AM »
Well I bought a bow from the PBS event I went to. It was a 3 piece take down recurve. I bought it more to support the organization. I have a wicked 3 piece bow that is going to be built for me soon. SO I really did not need this one. I got to shopping around on tradgang and found a 1 piece blacktail recurve that caught my eye.

The blacktail bows are probably one of the nicest trad bows on the market right now. They have a year waiting list to have one built and they are very sought after. This bow had just been refinished by the owner and it looks great! I talked to the guy on tradgang and we ended up trading bows on Saturday. This girl is 51#'s @ 28 and draws so smooth. I am very happy!

I am playing with a newer product that is just like the no glove that has been around for awhile. Just a little different feel and fit. I also added some spiders to the string as well. This is a great looking and smooth drawing bow that will make a nice addition to the collection. I hope to shoot it a little tomorrow if I can find some time.

Great trade, Blacktails are definitely great bows. The only thing I can see wrong with it is the shelf is on the wrong side.

I'd just like to remind everybody that it's about the hunting, not just the killing. In other words, it's about the total experience, the sport itself and the challenge involved. Bowhunting, done right, is a justifiable and honorable pursuit. Done for the wrong reasons, simply chalking up kills and seeking personal glory, it's taking away rather than giving back to a principled way of life that has to be experienced to be understood. Lucky for me I was not born backwards! LOL

I put about 30 arrows threw her tonight and the bow shoots very nice. I am use to shooting a little shorter bow. This one is 64" so I am having to reduce my amount of cant on the bow. I like to lay a bow over pretty good but these longer bows I can't get away with as much. I have not been shooting a recurve for awhile and the 51#"s was plenty enough to get the muscles stretched out!

Are you bringing her to Moses Lake, Matt?

I don't think I will be up there. Had to be on the turkey opener! I would love to hang out and shoot but I have some thunder chickens to Chase!

I also bought a widow this morning. One of the nicest ones I have seen. Been on the hunt for one for a couple years waiting for the right one, I found it this morning. I will post pics and more in a new thread tonight.

Send pictures of the widow. I just bought one (PSA 55#) and I'll finally be able to shoot her this weekend!

QUAD: I like the spiders a lot. They have been very consisitant for me and worked well. I have them on about half of my trad bows.

I will get pictures up of the widow in just a minute. I will start a new topic on that bow, it deserves it's own thread.
