I'm thinking about heading out tomorrow afternoon. I have never actually focused on bear, but I will be walking into an area I have been told there are bear and Cougar. Any tips....should I just walk as far as I can, call a bit....? Thanks.

Went this morning behind the house into the coastal woods by my house.. No bears, but quite a few silly does.. We'll see what happens later tonight.

Use fawn distress calls, watch the wind and set up where you can see your flanks, stay with each set up for about 30-50 minutes (depending on terrain, size of tract, etc).  They will be hitting the Oregon Grape, skunk cabbage roots, old stumps, rock fields, etc. so set up within earshot of these typical feed areas...Good Luck!
