whats it mean
« on: August 01, 2008, 08:07:14 AM »
As stated, I pulled out the broadheads this morning, August 1st.  I shot better all morning with them compared to the field points.  Whats that mena.....never happens that way. :chuckle:

Not sure, but at minimum it means you are off to a good start.  Those animals better start running now!  Can't wait to see your pictures and how you plan to beat your 2007 season.

For some reason I feel more comfortable shooting broadheads as well.  Last year I could hit a 4 inch dot 3 out of five times at 65 yards.  I havent tried this year yet.

Same thing happened to me a couple of days ago.  Better groups with the broadheads, maybe it's
just a bit more focus because the season is getting close.

I know it seems for me I focus more once the broadheads hit the end of the arrow.  Seems less like practice and more time for business, so to speak.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

I think you've got it here.  Many people focus harder when shooting broadheads, so they actually are thinking about form and follow through when they might not with a field point.  But it also means September is coming, and the hunting gods are smiling down on you!

Means...you've got less to fret about leading up to September.

Gotta be careful about the mental games though.  A guy should integrate broadhead practice into his shooting all year long to get comfortable seeing them on the end of his arrows.  Archery is a mental game as much as much as it is physical.  People who try to shoot a "special" arrow are introducing new mental forces that can wreak havoc on your performance in the field.  It's best to just shoot "average" arrows all the time.  Average = Good form, repeatable shot process, etc.; not sloppy shooting.

The best thing to do is take 3-5 new broadheads and dull them right out of the box.  There; instant practice broadheads.  No more worrying about dulling blades, losing them, etc.  They ARE your practice BHs.  Shoot them all year long and come opening day, your brain will thank you.

I gotta agree with Tom on this whole statement!  Very well put, and very true!!
