I heard you were so scared when you saw it on the side of the road you about wet yourself? Since then don't you both go all tactical and carry that .308 stub nosed terrorist shooter? Tough young man like yourself should be afraid of a lil ol bear...especially one already dead  on the side of the road. Sheesh....kids these days.

It was dead so it was only momentary concern.  I carry the terrorist snubby because I needed a practical application for a sweet machine gun.  Since it was .308 hunting was that practical application.

Now the .44 mag... thats a different story.  Kittys inspired that purchase.

Hey h2Ohunter, do you ever shut up?  Just wonderin'...  Good grief!

H20, sounds like you have a fan

I carry plenty of TP just in case I walk into the same situation. I'm just jealous of the gun....no big deal.

No worries about Ford.....he's just jealous of your .308 as well!

And yes...I have lots of fans.

I didn't see your name on that bear before I shot it out of the tree.  I didn't even see your name on the trail cam you had the picture of the bear from.  You where about 15 minutes late.

Wow lot's of activity since my last visit, don't you ever shut up H2O?  :chuckle: I'd have to read back through the whole post to know for sure but what gates did I mention? The last one I mentioned was Scotty Road, but that place is a dead zone right now. I don't know, I don't think I gave away any secrets. I've been out by Kellogg Lake, Spada Lake, Lake Reosiger, Lake Chaplain, Woods Lake, I've been all over the hunt area and I don't think I have once said exactly where I was. If I remember right, there are vehicles parked at every gate in the state come August. There are lot's of bears out there, that's why they give out special permits like this.

Any way, today I went in the Gate at 7924 Woods Creak Rd, you know the yellow one with the lock on it that I can open with my special key. So I drove in 5/8 of a mile and took a left at the big broken Fir tree. I went 1.1 mile to the grassy road off to the right. I walked in about 100 yards and the were 6 bears all sitting there eating a hiker and drinking his beer.  :yike: I was so startled that I couldn't decide which one to shoot, so I just turned around and ran back to my truck and went home. I think I'm done hunting for the year but you guy's feel free to go get em!   :chuckle: :chuckle:

OK now the real story. FC and I headed out for a morning hunt. With the wind direction I chose a spot I hadn't been too before. No I'm not telling you where. OK it was C-Post,  :chuckle: My key worked in this gate so we drove in a way, then walked a few spur roads. Found a cub track and I was excited, I really wanted to see it. Never did and didn't see mama either. I forgot my phone so hopefully FC will post a pic. Did 30 minutes of calling in a promising looking spot, but nothing today. Next week I'm working day's so I'm looking forward to some evening hunts. Maybe that will change my luck. H2O, I hope you're all talked out so I can have some peace and quiet on Saturday!

Sweet!

Sorry...no peace and quiet! I've got a cub distress call. Figured we could do a little sitting and calling in some of the areas. Maybe if we altrenate types and duration of calls we can keep at and bring something in. I'll feel a lot better calling knowing you are looking around and have the shooter. Vice versa as well. I'll carry my .45 for backup while calling. I've got my general distress that makes some good sound and a cub distress that is new.

I'm serious about your sandwich order. You can PM me your ideal fixings and I'll make it happen.

Don't worry D-Rock I put a quarter on the gate for my trespass fee!  :chuckle: H2O I like fresh smoked turkey breast on whole grain bread, pepper jack cheese, a little mayo and mustard, sweet butter leaf lettuce, tomato and pepperoncini's, no seeds. In a ziplock bag, not wrapped in foil. Or you can just bring PB&J, what ever's easiest.

Cool, I'd love to call one in, that would be awesome! Have you guy's had any bear activity on your trail cams? I can bring my mountain bike if you want to ride in somewhere.

I had nothing bear like on my last check. Also, saw no sign. Lots of good green stuff growing that you would think would draw them in. Not sure about that area. My bike has a flat on the front....damn thorns. Also...from walking in with FC and you the other time I'm sure we would miss important sign by booking along. I think the pace of the last hunt was good....especailly in the thicker stuff with you leading and looking. I'll bring my camera along with the calls. I'd be jacked as well if we can call one in. Sounds like more fun as well if there are two of us.
