Drift boat question
« on: April 14, 2012, 05:41:38 PM »
A guy I new a few years ago was a boat builder at one time but had to stop welding after a stroke. To make a long story short he drafted a 10 foot aluminum drift boat. I spent a couple weeks cutting material and welding this boat out for him. He never used or sold the boat and told me if I can use it I can have it. I plan on using it in the puyallup untill i get the hang of it but what other rivers would a boat this size be good for?

Are you asking for rivers that are 'safe' like Class I and II or rivers that have tight turns and rocks to squeeze between?
The easiest OP rivers that you can drift that I can think of are the bogachiel and the dickey.  Dickey is cool because in some places the trees overhang and you can barely stand, like going in a tunnel.  It has cool turns and actually a lot of soft sandy places on the bottom.

Thats what im looking for I have never rowed a drift boat but have been on many trips down rivers on bigger boats and i was not sure if a boat this size is a good all around boat or if I should steer clear of specific rivers. Obviously I have alot to learn and im not going to dump it in the calawa thinking I can handle it. Most drift boats I have been in have talller walls and bow's than this one and i have got good and wet sitting in front of these bigger boats.
