On the backside of Rimrock Lake (southside) there are several clearcuts on the NFS.  Tieton River drainage side of that is good hunting.  Also the trailhead at end of Clear Lake Rd. is another start...let the camps there know you guys have bull tags...they may give you sightings.  The other area to look too is before Rimrock there is the Tieton Rd (Yakima side of Rimrock)  Go through all of that and look....there are lots of good areas.  Go during general archery and talk with camps on what they are seeing.  Because they will see most of the activity before you.  Use ggogle earth, Flashearth, Terraserver mapping to look over area before going...good luck.
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

Stop in at the store the base of the dam, lots of good pics and info there, seems like every year there are some good bulls shot on the opener round lost lake.  Bottom line though is that unit is 100% elk country, get over there, scout, hike and find some spots you like, there are elk in every corner of that unit.

Usually the elk over there are well away from the roads. Many of the elk are still in their summer feeding areas and so you need to look at the higher elevations. I used to go to top of ridges at night and listen. I could hear the elk talking to each other. I hunted that area for about 5 years, before my hunting partners wanted a place closer to home.
Gathering is easy. Hunting is a challenge.

Try the Spencer cr. dranage. Around Blue Slide. Maybe around Louie Gap/ Around Dome Peak. Bear Mt. Hike into Conrad Meadows. West face of Darlin Mt. You see there are elk every were in the unit. Saw a huge bull in 90 where the side from Blue Slide hits the river, early morning,(Earl Sept.) Had 15-20 cows with him, Really talking, saying comeon girls time to go. Watched him gather the heard and walk up the slide and right up the canyon. Hunted him hard that year, only found cows, he had a good hidy hole and was not moving. Hope this helps, give ya some places to study. Like was said, Google Earth or one of the other ones. They are there but are not gonna be laying by the roads. You have bow and frontstuff season ahead of you and they are going to be holed up allready. Hope this helps some :chuckle:
Take a kid hunting or fishing, Pass it on, it's not yours to keep!
