Perhaps so but I'd have to think that them states probably have better hunting opportunities than this screwed up state & you'd get your monies worth.

WA is actually almost double+ what the other western states are for there OIL tags.

Oregon $122       Arizona $272       
Nevada $120       Utah $408-508
Idaho $166           New Mexico $161
Montana $130
Colorado $254

Other than Utah, WA is quite a bit higher for there OIL tags. Just sayin!

WA is actually almost double+ what the other western states are for there OIL tags.

Thank you for some facts. And huntnphool, I never said those tags weren't worth the cost. I was saying quite the opposite. I also know enough about hunting that it's impossible to find a sheep hunt for the 3,000 dollar range.

I am sympathetic to the concern over higher prices, but the vast majority of applicants will never draw in a lifetime so it's not an issue for 99+% of those who apply.  Really, if I were to draw a bighorn sheep / goat / moose permit I'd probably be a bit irritated but wouldn't for a second hesitate to pay $322 for it.  If I thought $322 was too much, I wouldn't apply.  The real rip is that you will pay $8 / year to apply, every year, and in all likely never receive anything in your lifetime for it.

I would suggest the increase in general licenses / permits is a greater concern since that affects all hunters.

What does it cost to go to Canada for a moose?   I think I should go to BC in a few years and quit feeding money to WDFW.....

The odds of drawing an OIL tag in 20 years is still very low.  Taking bonus points out of the equation, the odds of drawing a moose permit applying every year for 20 years is about 2%.  Mountain goat is worse, and sheep is worse yet.
