Follow up question.  If I put him in for youth moose and he draws, the youth moose tag is $57.  If I put him in for the "Any moose" tag and he draws, since he's a youth is it still $57 or is it $332?

$322

A moose tag is a moose tag, doesn't matter what category the permit is from. The price should be the same, and I believe it is. Look at the list of fees. Nowhere does it say a youth will pay regular price for a moose tag if they draw a hunt from the "any moose" category. Same thing with elk or deer. They will pay the youth price no matter what permit they draw.

Are you sure that price is not specifically for the "youth moose" hunts only?

99.9% sure, but I'll let you know in about 6 years when my daughter draws a moose tag, ok?

Does the youth tag count as the OIL moose for a kid if they draw and connect?  I'd hate to have my 10 year old get his moose as antlerless when I can buy 8 years of dummy points so he has a better chance at a paddle head when he's grown

OIL is not exactly the right term anymore now that they have all the categories.  In a sense it is once in a lifetime because the likelihood of drawing moose in more than 1 category is slim, but there is still that chance.

So, to answer your question JJ, you might as well put your kid in for youth and put him in for bull moose and cow moose if you want.   :twocents:
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

I'll put him in for youth antlerless moose and when he grows up and earns his own money, he can put in for any other moose he wishes

I read that as someone can harvest as many antlerless moose as they can be drawn for, as long as they aren't drawn for the "any moose" tag since all other moose tags are antlerless only.

Even if you draw a "Any Moose" tag and harvest one you can still get a cow tag the next year.
