second bear this week
« on: April 18, 2012, 08:28:19 PM »
I sure wish that I had a spring bear tag. I have been watching the site hoping to see that those spring bear hunters were seeing the same things that I have been.

This is the second bear that I have run into in the last couple of days. It is a beautiful dark chocolate brown. I watched it feed for close to half an hour. When the sun shined on it, the coat was gorgeous.

My German Shepard that was with me just layed at my feet silently while this went on. He knew the bear was there, but has been through training with me and it is paying off. The bear was just about as wide as it was tall and looked like it had a very large head.

I think the ones that are out, must be in residential areas.  You and the local media seem to be having the best luck.   :chuckle:

That spot looks very familiar, like Western Wa! :chuckle: It does look a lot like where I've been going out to, but I haven't seen one yet. Only one set of sow and cub tracks. I'll give you a steak if you tell me where he is. How's that for generosity!

I dont know, but if I see a bear like that in Kapowsin then I'm filling my tag!  I'm in the same boat as you with not finding much fresh sign in the areas that we can actually hunt for spring bear.  Since I have the annual pass, I have been scouting for about a month and I have only seen one yearling bear.

I live 15 minutes away, so I have been in there the last couple of nights after work on the predator call trying to find something.  Its pretty slow right now, but I'm hoping it picks up soon because I really want to harvest my first bruin!

Good luck to all the other spring bear hunters and nice picture Woodman!
