Hi Sneaky - We filled 3 of our 4 tags and were close on the last bird several times but didn't close the deal. I will post my 4 minute hunt later today with pics.  Most of the 2,100 acres however no longer holds birds as they no longer actively farm, making it maybe 100+ acres to hunt. The area also held less birds than further south and there were several hunters, most with out permission, but the landowner doesn't care who hunts.  We did see lots of elk, muley and whitetail deer, a bear, 3 yotes, grouse, quail, etc.

Oh we did fine.  Steve and I could have tagged out opening morning with 13 jakes standing in front of us gobbling.  We held off on the shot until the tom came in and then it was just a sea of red heads.  I just looked over at him and rolled my eyes.   Birds were gobbling hard in the morning, just not so much after 9 or so.  Big flocks everywhere, just had to set up on them in the morning.  All of the jakes were gobbling so we had them land in our laps each morning after we roosted.   I shot one because he wouldn't shut up after he landed arms length from us.   Found 5 nice toms one day with a couple of hens.  Had them called in to about 40 or so with no shot.  Car drives up, two bubbas jump out guns-a-blazing!  Shot two, injured two.  Birds turned towards us and I was telling Steve to shoot the injured one when I realized that the two dorks were probably turning their arsenal in our direction.  Steve shot and I jumped up screaming every curse word I could muster.  We pretty much got soaked every day.  Fred got a double one day.  Nice tom and his little jake buddy. The most birds I have seen in a few years and with the amount of jakes we saw, next year will be a blast, literally.   With the weather and lack of conversation with the birds, we just counted it as a good time.   Shot some squirrels, one coyote, had a big BBQ with a landowner.   Every year we make it over there and back in one piece, I consider a success.    Kids are healthy, wife is healthy, parents both came to camp and had a good time.  Good year.

This is the coyote we shot last year.  My son wants the skull, does anyone know how to clean it up and make it so the teeth won't fall out.  It is pretty clean, no flesh, just dirty gunky.

Sounds like you had tons of fun and didn't come home empty .... had whitetails as close as 5 feet and a yote at 20 yards but my gun was in the truck, and partner chose not to take him out. Saw 2 other yotes ... one had a bad front right leg ... named im/her "Tippy".

yeah, deer are definitely coming back.  missed you at camp, maybe you could have sweet talked our birds for us

Not so sure you wouldn't do a better job as I couldn't get any close enough for Little Buck's 2nd tag ...

This is the jake that landed in our laps.  Had the nicest gobble of the bunch, had me fooled.  Anyhow, one for the freezer.  Farmer told me to stick him in an oven bag with a can of cream of mushroom soup and cook on low heat for half the day.  Said he would fall apart and make a great soup base.  Anyone done that?
No thoughts on the skull, should I soak it in hot bleach water then glue the teeth in?

Stick the skull in a pale of water for a few weeks and then take a tooth brush to it, not much you can do about the teeth.
just glue them back in.
