Got my first bow.. Martin Threshold
« on: April 18, 2012, 02:39:11 AM »
My girlfriend got me a martin threshold for my birthday. Its my first bow, besides shooting one in the boy scouts when I was little. I shot it today and this was my second string of shots at 20yds.. Im pretty happy. I dont think it will be hard to be deadly accurate by the time deer season rolls around. Maybe the extra season compared to modern rifle will help me get something down. So far I have only shot at 10, 20, and 30 yds. My best 30yd group was about 3.5". I think not bad for a rookie, first day of shooting first bow.

Congrats and welcome to the addiction.

A TIP FOR YOU! start shooting one arrow at each dot. You will burn threw a lot of arrows and crack and split them shooting that many at one dot.

not bad at all, but as a tip, make sure you practice with broad heads as well. When you put and extra set of vanes essentially it will shoot slightly different than FP. At least that's how its been for me in the past. i was dead accurate out to 70 but with broad heads my max is about 50 being consistent. Also glad to see another martin shooter, its the only thing i shoot(martin excile)

Well played!  Have a great time, and get out and shoot some dirt clods, soft stumps, leaves etc.  Shoot up and down.  good way to loose arrows, but sure is fun, and helps with hunting.  I also shoot a Martin.  Love it.

I got a Martin Threshold last year.  I am happy with it, I think it is a great bow to start off with and see if it is something you want to stick with and invest more in later on down the rd.  I didn't hunt with it last year but practicing with it to be ready for this year.

I went and got a trophy ridge revolution rest put on today.. I like that alot better than the wildman rest that came on the bow. I do like the bow pretty well, I think the way I have it set up now its going to be pretty sweet..

They are a lot of fun. Still try not to shoot to many hard things with them. A blunt is better for shooting harder targets. Judos can still break or crack a arrow if you punch something to hard. They are great on small game and will help you find your arrows by snaging in weeds and crap.
