Maybe there is a difference between brands?  I tried this today on 4 different ticks on my dogs, but I've yet to get any reaction out of the ticks and end up pulling them out like normal.  This is a good year for practicing tick methods, for sure.

  Just so you know they can and do go completely under the skin, the doctor took pictures of the one that burrowed into me, the only thing sticking out was the legs, nothing to grab onto, I have had lots of the little buggers on me and this is the first on that's ever gone completely under, got a nice nipple scar to prove it.

my fear if ticks just multiplied by like a zillion!!!

We've had 2 on a horse and the other night husband came in and I found 3 within minutes!  YUK!  I hate the little buggers!  Are most of you guys reporting the large numbers of ticks on the Eastside?

I went out behind the houseon the 6th to scout for the youth hunt.  Heard nothing, saw nothing, went back to the house.  I was going to go out with the young man and his Dad, but whenI got up the next moring, I was walking into walls, tripping and just not having a good time.stayed home.  Then came the diarreah.  I was in bed all day, too weak to do anything.  I was up in the evening sitting at the computer, and dropped my left hand onto the inner thigh of my left leg.  Ouch, big time.  I pulled up the leg of my sweats, and there it was.  Just a small portion of the hindend sticking out and a red ring around the bite area.  I called the wife and had her pull it out with twezzers.  Took awhile, but she got it.  Put some campho on it and callled it good.  Got up Sunday morning and the leg from behind the knee up to the groin was maroon color  and getting rather large.  The bite was on the inner thigh at about the middle.  We went to church but when we got out I told the wife we better take me to the er at the hospital.  The doctor said it was good that I came in.  He gave me some antibiotics and a prescription for some more.  He told me if it changes to get back in there.  Come Wedsday the discoloration had spread and it was swollen more.  Back I went.  Got stronger meds and was told to go to my regular doc on Friday.  Talked to him  He said that there are several cases of this.  One other in the Goldendale are, and 5 other cases down in the Bingen, Hood River area.  They are not sure what it is.  I am to go back on the 10th of May, to be tested for Lymes.  Hope to have enough energy to go turkey hunting tomorrow the 25th.  Bad year for ticks, and bees.

The Goldendale area is by far the worst area I've ever experienced for ticks. Its the only place that I've gotten ticks in November in a snow storm. I've seen far more ticks in the spring around E-Burg, but they aren't as voracious as the G-Dale ones.. just sayin

It takes 24 hours after a tick has burrowed in for his to even be able to pass along lyme disease.  Surprised the Dr. never mentioned that.  At least that's what all my research on the disease led to.

Ya thats what my research said as well. However the doc said it's more of a preventive diagnosis. Basically its better to put me on the meds now, then wait and go "oops" later. To me I am thinking it is more of an infection because it doesn't look 100% like the images I have found, but there is still some similarities.

That's a smart move.  Hope all turns out well.  I've had several hundred, if not more than a thousand ticks over the years on me, but never had one break skin.  Several were found the next morning.  From all the stories I hear about them breaking skin, I feel very lucky.

Ticks are very thick here in Montana this spring also
