Reusable Canning Lids!
« on: April 26, 2012, 03:51:12 PM »
Tired of buying canning lids?

These are cool.

I bought some of these for last year's harvest/canning marathon and I can't speak highly enough of their quality!

Not sure about you, but as someone who cans a LOT, I'm tired of buying so many lids, only to toss them after one use.

Do yourself a favor and get some.

(No, I am not compensated for sales in any way whatsoever, nor am I affiliated in any way to the company selling these.  Just want to share this great find with my fellow home canners!)

Having just bought them last year, have you re-used them yet?

Yes, I reused about a dozen of them for canning potatoes and pumpkin around December.  They seal real nice and I'm hooked.  A lady I know over in Wyoming who's a "canning machine"  has been using them for a while now, and she's the one who recommended them to me.  She said she hasn't thrown one away yet after using them several times.  I'm a huge fan, because I hate having to buy new lids knowing they expire, and that I'll need to throw them out after one use.  I also like the fact they're made in the U.S.A. and that they're BPA free.

Yeppers!  They're the Tattler lids.  I'm going to buy some more, for good keeping.  Probably about a hundred.

Nice to hear. I did not can last year with a big move from one side of the state to the other and being settled in but, I have canned for years. Love it :) Nothing finer than popping open one of your own jars. Thanks for the heads up. Less waste is always good.

Lids are cheap.  I think I will wait a few years and wait for the reports.

Interesting.  I go through about 10-12 dozen lids every year.  You would have to get 4 or 5 uses out of them to just break even though.  Is it easy to tell if one doesn't seal?
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice
