102" stainless steel whip antenna so you can take out the lights at some gas stations... :chuckle: :chuckle:

I bet they hate to see me coming.

I have a Uniden Pro 510 in mine with RG8 coax to the 102" whip mounted on top of my cross bed tool box. It sends/receives very well.

I've never had good luck with CB radios as far as being able to talk to someone who is not in sight. For you guys that are tech savy with CB's is there something basic I'm missing?

Probably. Ever get your antenna tuned? That's usually people's biggest problem. There's not much to it other than that. If that's done correctly you just need more juice.

Cobra with a 102" whip in our jeep which is now affectionately called the wack-a-mole. Has a odd habit to literally reach out and touch someone on some of the trails or the occasional over head lights. I like the firestik's but watched 2 of them break a few weekends ago.

The MaxRad antennas or there are a few similar brands.  Mine is a different brand, but can't remember.  It improved significantly over the firestik I was using before.

sirmissalot there id defentaly more to just pluggin in and talking when it comes to CB's or any kind of radio gear... They are cool, but before i would buy a good one with a whip i would likely get my Ham radio Licence... Just taking the course would help you understand how that kind of stuf works.  :twocents:

Awesome thanks for that. I got a couple HAM radios a few years ago after seeing guys in Montana use them like cell phones since theres no service there, they really impressed me but I know I need a license... plus I really don't know how to use one properly. I'll look into it thanks for the info

I like the firestik's but watched 2 of them break a few weekends ago.

I have abused the heck out of mine firestick but I also have it mounted to a spring. Did the ones you saw break have those springs on them?

Also I have to agree with making sure you antenna is tuned correctly. My CB wasn't transmitting well until I had the antenna tuned, then it worked great. I have a cobra it looks like the classic series.
