puget sound invasive shrimp

Ok fellas , my chiropractors receptionist told my uncle that she saw on the news that there was a shrimp the size of lobsters from japan invading puget sound. is she on drugs or have any of you heard of this. i havent checked any news websites yet but lets get to the bottom of this.
is it tweeker season yet?

Invasive? Sounds delicious!  :chuckle: I haven't heard that but in about a week, if it's true...you'll hear about it for sure...unless they are to big for traps!  :tup:

 yes they do sound delicious. if its true theres gotta be a way to legally fish for them. count me in.

Just take your boat down the coast, through the Panama Canal and up into the gulf, no problem!   :dunno:    :chuckle:

I wonder if "invasive" is the right term if they've moved in all by themselves. They sound good to me unless of course they make the Geiger counter go nuts.

If they are in the gulf, i would find it hard to believe that they made it to the Gulf on thier own.  :twocents:

They mad it to the gulf probably either from switching currents or from the balast water from ships.

yeah invasive might not be the right word if they got here on their own.  maybe migratory?   i heard this 3rd hand so i didnt put much faith in it.  :dunno:

here's one article about it.  Seems likely they escaped from aquaculture.  For the sound, the invasive I usually hear concern about is Atlantic Salmon.
