Adorama has the 7D for $1199.00 after a $500.00 rebate. I need to find some cash soon.

I'm still learning so sometimes I use the preprogramed modes like landscape, sports, portrait etc. The 7D  doesn't have those so do I pull the trigger? It's almost too good to pass up. I just bought the Canon 17-55 f2.8 so that would be a great addition.

It's a No Brainer! Buy the 7D! My wife just started taking photos a few months ago. She was using my old Canon 40D and doing a pretty fair job of getting photos. I switched her off onto the 7D and started showing her how to FORGET the programmed modes. Within just a couple of weeks she began taking Awesome Photos! :) Now she hounds me every day she has off to take her out on another photo taking excursion! :) She Doesn't even think about the programmed modes anymore and she does her own settings on the camera! :)

Now if I could just get her to Edit her own photos it would be Awesome! :)

Dick, does she post process the photo's? Also, try shooting with less ISO, and use USM, from such a great camera should come much sharper pictures with better color Id think. Maybe its the glass?

Looks like thw rebate is with the purchace of a printer too :bash: Its wierd when I looked again today the ad changed.

Edit.

I went back to where I saw the deal, bobatkins.com. It still says 7D for $1199.00 with the link to adorama but it has now changed on adorama to $150.00 rebate. The $500.00 rebate is still with the purchase of a printer also. That originally did seem to good to be true. What a let down

Hopefully this means they are coming out with a 7D2.  I've created a lot of good images with that camera but the limitations of it proved too frustrating for me over time.  I had a chance to use it again in Oklahoma this last weekend on a prairie chicken lek so I'll be excited to see how they compare to my 5D3.  In good light using ISO 100 or 200 if you get the exposure correctly, it can take really high quality images.  If you are at ISO 800 or underexpose an image the noise on the camera is just too much.  If you crop much, it gets worse.  The noise characteristic on that camera is quite coarse which proves difficult for most noise reducing software.

I expect the 7D2 out this year.  Hoping for 20-24 megapixels and better noise.  Oh, and silent shooting mode as I'm in love with that on the 5D3.

John,
My wife refuses to try out the editing end of photography yet, so it is left up to me so far. Adobe Lightroom intimidates  her. All things will come with time. ;) :) I do have her convinced to shoot RAW format photos finally! :)

You are definitely right about shooting lower ISO speeds! I try to shoot no higher than 200 ISO unless conditions won't allow it.

Also, you are right about the glass! That is Not the place to cut corners! Get the best glass you can afford! The lens is The Eye of the camera!
