Browning's New A5

What do you think? I like what I read about it in American Rifleman. Does anyone know if they are out in stores yet.

I was told they wouldn't be in a Cabelas until June.  Although, the guy at the gun counter had no idea that they were even releasing a new one.  I found that odd...

I have my dad's Belgium A5 and I love it, thought I might get a new one so I can hand them both down to my kid...

aren't the new ones "inertia driven" like a benelli?  the way i see it, if i'm gonna put up with the maintenance required with an auto, might as well have the added benefit of recoil reduction that you get from a gas auto.  otherwise i'd just stick to a pump.

with a price tag of $1500+ it's way out of my league for a duck blaster, so i guess it's kind of a moot point for me.

Yep, the new A5 is inertia operated.

The original A5 is “long recoil-operated” i.e. the both the barrel and the bolt move together through the entire recoil stroke.  When properly adjusted most of the recoil is taken up in the large mass movement and very little recoil is felt by the shooter.  Neither a gas nor an inertia system can dampen recoil as effectively as the long recoil A5.

I think they look really neat, but it's not a true Auto 5. The humpback is only for looks. I understand that Browning is "catching up" with the autoloading shotgun market by offering a inertia operated gun but still I think the price tag is a little steep. I think around $1000 would be more realistic for the gun. I would love to try one out! Truth be told I would rather have that Franchi 20Ga. they put out a few years ago. It's a true "long recoil" like the old A-5 and it's really light weight. Affordable too, I think you can get one for like $800

I like the looks of the old hump back.  My magnum 12 Belgian will last me my life time and then some.

I feel they look awesome but seem fairly spendy for a 3" autoloader
