Memorial fund for Pamela Almli??
« on: August 04, 2008, 10:02:06 AM »
I was thinking we should start a memorial fund here on hunting-washington.com for the family of Pamila Almli, the lady shot and killed by a "bear hunter" this past weekend. The family harbors no ill will against the young man... or hunters in general, but I think this would be an excellent opportunity to show our support (and unity) as a hunting community.

If one of the moderators would set it up... or if they'd like me to set it up... I feel this would go a long way toward mending the relationship that we need to have with other groups of outdoorsmen.

Im with Josh on this one. I think it could be a great thing for the reputation of hunters if we did this.

I think it is a good gesture. Maybe her family would not accept it.

If they wouldn't, we could use it for some type of information project. I'd be willing to contact them and see... but it's your site. If not, I'll leave it at that... just thought it'd be a possitive gesture.

Hell, even if we just sent some kind of card... whatever. My point is, we should send some type of united message that this is as unacceptable in our community (as WA hunters) as it is in their's.

I was just thinking out loud. I don't want people to think "it's my site" but instead was just what I really thought. If you want to organize it I am all for it. It sounds like a good idea. If they did not accept the offer then if it was used for something else positive that would be great.

If the famiily wouldnt accept it, we could donate the funds to youth hunters education in her name, for example.
