Ebay is the way
« on: August 04, 2008, 01:32:55 PM »
I just got a new, in the box 10x42 set of leupold binos for $150. The same set in Cabelas is $269. Think about it before you buy something expensive next time from cabelas. I'm looking at a Leupold 4.4-14x50 scope for around $400, retails for $659. Its worth the couple days longer in shipping.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Just be real careful on buying off of ebay.  There are some leupold knock-offs that look like the real thing in scopes and binocs.

I've bought several scopes off of e-bay and had wonderful luck in getting a good deal on good optics.  It's when you start looking at the high end european stuff that there just isn't much of a deal when shopping e-bay. :twocents:
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

So far I have not had any problems buy anything off of ebay.

Wife and I are big time into e-bay. I've bought several big ticket items through that site. You get used to looking for red flags. Stay domestic, read feedbacks, and ask questions. Any one of the above makes you nervous, move on to the next one immediately. It's pretty safe.

Got my reconditioned Nikon Monarch Bino's from a well known dealer in Anacortes off e-bay for about 1/2 price! Several NIB Nikon Scopes. Used to get Contender barrels until they got banned. Dies, etc. Lots of good deals if you're careful.

The wife & I have bought lots of things off e-bay. Just make sure that you know what it sell for retail and don't go past that price. We haven't had any troubles yet.

If that scope falls through out of your range, let me know.  I've got a VX-III in those specs that I might let go for around that price.

A little off topic but I collect "Buck" knives and have been buying off of e-bay for a few years. I have never gotten a "Raw" deal yet. Also I had always wanted a buffalo for my wall in in my trophy room and last year bought a buffalo "shoot" ( I know and admit it wasn't a "hunt", it was a shoot) up in Saskatchewan. It was for an older bull (mine was twelve years old) and it ended up being a GINORMAS animal. My buddy and I paid $1500 and came home with not only great big buffalo bulls, but also over 700 lbs of cut and wrapped meat for each of us. I have also bought four or five scopes for my rifles and handguns and have been very pleased with them.
