What call do you prefer for a regular turkey hunt sitting under a tree? Slate, box, or diaphram?

I'm an "All The Above" turkey chaser. Sometimes I want the soft purr and yelp of a slate. Sometimes little more volume and hands free of the diaphragm. And other times I want crisp clucks or the yelp of the box. Why do you think turkey vests have so many pockets? I think it is specially for call junkies like myself that will try almost anything once.

My favorites are diaphragms, but use boxs, pots, tube calls or snuff boxes, wing bone, push pulls, scratch boxes, hat slaps, raking leaves ............

diaphragm calls 95% of the time. Sometimes I use a slate.
I HATE all the damn gimmicks on mouth calls nowadays. I have a hard time finding a plain old call without 'cups' or other BS.

Hunter Specialties® Ring Zone® Slate Pot call with a Hickory Cross Cut Striker. Sounds sweeter than any pot call I've ever used.

My favorite without hesitation is a custom glass over slate friction call made by a southern gentleman I will refrain from naming. His calls are now extremely expensive if you can find one, as he has retired from call making. Absolutely the most realistic call I have ever used, and I have quite a collection. Lets just say if I could only keep one call.....it would be that one without even pausing to think about it. Deadly.

I have quite an assortment of calls that I take in my vest but the main 3 that I use are a Red Head Jerry Martin Box call made of Mahogany/Sycamore the wife calls it the red headed slut, a Primos Power Crystal with a purple heart striker and then my slate also a Primos call the Wicked Hen with an oak striker. My Howard House slate call has been retired to the shelf to preserve it.
